VENICE at Carnival Time, Simply Magical !
Penile Extender article is so high in Italy that a stew of kidneys, liver, sheep s head, or fat covered entrails is often the only offering. He Penile Extender who has the temerity and Penile Extender a heavy enough purse to order a cutlet or a bistecca in such an inn is looked upon with Penile Extender awe and envy as long as he remains. Penile Extender I seldom had either. Following the meat dish it is never served with it came a bowl of vegetables.then a bit of fruit and a nibble of cheese for each of us. Wine, of course, had been much in evidence the Italian has no conception of a meal without his national drink. The wayfarer may call for nothing to eat but the three cent minestra, and la signora serves it as cheerily as a dinner at one lira but let him refuse to order wine, and her sympathy is forever forfeited. When drowsiness fell upon me the hostess led the way to an airy, spacious room, its bed boasting a lace canopy, and its coarse sheets remarkably white in view of the fact that the Italian housewife does her work in the village brook, and never uses hot water. Such labor is cheap in the peninsula and for all this luxury I paid less than ten cents. Early next day I pushed Penile Extender on Penile Extender toward Lecco. A light frost had fallen d
uring the night, and the peasants, alarmed at this first breath of winter, had sent into the vineyards Penile Extender every man, woman, and child Penile Extender capable of labor. The pickers worked male enhancement sprays feverishly. All day women red lips premium male enhancement plodded from the black lion male enhancement reviews fields to the roadside with great buckets of grapes to be 48dumpe.d into hogsheads on waiting ox carts. Men, booted or shod with wooden clogs, jumped now and then into the man enhancers barrels and stamped the grapes down. Once full, the receptacles were covered with strips of dirty canvas, the contadino mounted his cart, turned his oxen into the highway, and fell promptly asleep. Arrived at the village, he drew up before the chute of the communal wine press and shoveled his grapes into a grow big penis slowly revolving hopper, from which, crushed to an oozy Penile Extender pulp, Penile Extender they were run into huge vats and left to settle. Halting for a morning lunch in the Penile Extender shadow of the statue of Manzoni, I rounded that range of mountains, so strangely resembling a saw, which shelters Lecco from the east wind, and continuing through the theater of action of I Promessi Sposi, gained Bergamo by nightfall. Beyond that city a level highway Penile Extender set an unchanging course across a vast, grape bearing plain,
watered by a network of canals. The Alps retired slowly to the northward until, at Brescia, only a phantom range wavered in the Penile Extender haze of the distant horizon. About the time of my.arrival in Italy, a strike had been declared in Milan. The Milanese motormen had refused to groom their horses or something of the sort. Once started, the movement was rapidly growing general and widespread. The newspapers bubbled over with it, the air about me was surcharged with raging arraignments Penile Extender of capitalistic iniquities. Strikes and lock outs, however, were no affairs to trouble the peace of a foot traveler. When trains ceased to run, I marched serenely on through clamoring groups of stranded voyagers when the barbers closed their shops, I decided to raise a beard. The butchers joined the movement and I smiled with the indifference of one who had subsisted for weeks chiefly on bread. The bakers of Penile Extender northern Italy concoct this important comestible in Penile Extender loaves of about the size Penile Extender and durability of baseballs. Serving in that capacity there is good reason to believe that one of Penile Extender them would remain unscathed at the end of a league game, though the score book recorded many a thre
e bagger and home Penile Extender run. Still, hard loaves soaked in wine, or crushed between tw.o wayside rocks were evolve male enhancement edible, in a way and, as long as they were plentiful, I could not suffer Penile Extender Penile Extender for lack of food. A few Penile Extender miles beyond Brescia, however, the strike became a matter of personal tiger 5000 male enhancement importance. At each of the bakeries of a grumbling extenze liquid male enhancement Penile Extender penis elargment village I was turned away with the permanent gains from pumping cry of Pane non ch The strike The bakers have Penile Extender joined the strike Penile Extender and no more bread is made 49To satisfy that day s appetite I was reduced to paste, a mushy mess of macaroni and at a Verona inn I was robbed of half my sleep by the discussion of this new phase of the situati
Truly stunning from head to toe, from their wigs and masks and artfully applied makeup to their splendid dress and footwear, these costumed ladies and gentlemen were fully engaged in celebrating the festival and delighted in stopping and posing most charmingly for photos. A true feast for the eyes. The ambiance was almost surreal, and the fascination day after day for enjoying the view, admiring the extraordinarily colorful costumes and taking photos never left me. The pace was relaxed but the joie de vivre was infectious … no matter what we did as we toured, we enjoyed it more thanks to the Carnevale festivities and, in particular, the magnificent costumed participants strolling around in full regalia.
What else contributed to the “enchantment” of Venice?
First and foremost, were the three Carnevale Costume Balls we attended, Il Minuetto at the most famous hotel in Venice, the Hotel Danieli (where we were staying), the Grand Ball of Carnevale known as the “Ballo Tiepolo” at the Palazzo Pisani Moretta , and the Official Dinner Show and Ball at Palazzo Ca Vendramin Calergi. This latter palazzo is well known for being the residence of the famous composer, Richard Wagner, during his years in Venice, and also for serving during the rest of the year as the Casino of Venice, the oldest gaming establishment in the world.
Our favorite Carnevale Ballo experience was the elegant Il Minuetto at Hotel Danieli where the four-course dinner with wines was superb, the service was impeccable, and we delighted in the Minuet lesson we received from a Dance Master.
While we enjoyed both of the other two Costume Balls we attended as well as the water taxi ride over and back from the dock of our hotel to the dock of the palazzo where the Ball was taking place, there were a few hiccups. The festivities at Ballo Tiepolo were abbreviated because the commencement was seriously delayed until 10:30pm, and the crowd at the Official Dinner Show and Ball was frankly a bit too wild for us, with guys dancing in nothing but bikini briefs, and dinner service was late and very slow. Perhaps our leaving shortly after midnight was too premature and we missed the more enticing experience later on? Nevertheless, attending all three gave us much more insight into the Carnevale costume ball experience and we did have a very interesting time at each of them . After all, people-watching is part of the Carnevale experience!
The Hotel Danieli was our exquisite home for our 15 glorious days in Venice. This was our first time staying at the 5-star palatial Hotel Danieli, but I very much hope it will not be our last time. The staff knew our names from day 1 and made us feel that our wish was their command. Beauty is everywhere in Venice, but that’s an understatement at the Hotel Danieli, built as a palazzo during the Renaissance at the end of the 14th century by a noble Venetian family, expanded over the years, and still very much full of historic charm and allure in the 21st century.
The hotel’s restaurants are superb – in fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better combination of Italian cuisine, service and view in Venice than at the Danieli’s main restaurant known as Ristorante Terrazza Danieli. In the warmer weather, you can eat outside on the spacious outdoor terrace at Terrazza while enjoying a spectacular view of the Grand Canal and tutto Venezia! But thanks to its many windows, fabulous views are also available year-round throughout the interior of the restaurant.
Our rooms located on the canal side of the Danieli were quiet, quite comfortable, and very well-appointed. We had the pleasure of staying first in a “premium deluxe” room, and then in a top floor suite. If you choose to sojourn at the Hotel Danieli, you will be in good company with the likes of many renowned artists, writers, musicians and other luminaries including Goethe, Dickens, Peggy Guggenheim, Leonard Bernstein, Steven Spielberg, and art critic John Ruskin.
The cultural offerings are superb in Venice. At the city’s renowned Opera House, La Fenice, we were totally entranced by the production of “The Barber of Seville”, and experienced sheer delight while enjoying our favorite Operetta, “The Merry Widow.” From the casting and outstanding performances to the stage settings and scenery, our operatic experiences were extraordinarily satisfying, and we left La Fenice both times uplifted and humming some of the hauntingly beautiful music we had just enjoyed.
Similarly impressed, we absolutely delighted in the outstanding Vivaldi Chamber Music Concerts at the Chiesa di Santa Maria della Pieta which was the Church where Vivaldi, regarded as one of the greatest Baroque composers, regularly worked and taught orphans for many years.
Venice has personality, charm and romance in spades. Plus, for me, it has always been enchanting, yet never more so than at Carnevale time.
